{Haven Media was an artist and brand management house located in Cape Town, South Africa, and was owned and operated by Craig Reid, until April 2012 when he became employed full time and exclusively by one of his artists. Craig cut his music industry teeth on his dad’s old vinyl records, literally and figuratively. From age 4, his parents would find him curled up in front of the record player with headphones on, listening to everything from Alphaville to ZZ Top with his eyes closed and leaning slightly back and forth in time with the beat.
Growing up in Cape Town, South Africa, Craig immersed himself in the local music scene as soon as he was old enough to sneak into clubs without being stopped by bouncers and getting asked for ID, watching with awe as local legends like Just Jinjer, Springbok Nude Girls, Sugar Drive, and Squeal took to the stage and lit up the local industry in the mid 1990’s. After finishing school in 2000, Craig studied Public Relations and Media Studies with a huge interest in how printed press and PR influenced local musicians, and made or broke them in the process.
Since then, Craig has been involved in the recording, production, booking, and management of a few hand picked local musicians, and earning the respect from well know industry players for the way all the related aspects were conducted. In May 2010, the circle came full round when he was introduced to Ard Matthews, front man of Just Jinjer, by industry heavyweight Theo Crous. The two took an instant liking to one another, and Craig was absorbed into the Just Jinjer brand as their new South African representation in charge of bookings, logistics, online social media, and website. This opportunity provided Craig with a wealth of experience and helped form incredibly strong relationships with many musicians, agents, and executives in the South African music industry.
